Proud of our Letters

Over the last couple of weeks during Writing Workshop the children have been writing letters expressing their opinions. As with all writing units, they went through all of the parts of the writing process.

Today the children finished "fixing and fancying" one of their chosen drafts. They recopied their letters using their neatest writing and added borders and little pictures. They even decorated envelopes to make them extra special. Many of the children's letters were to classmates, who were very excited to receive them. Some were to family members or friends far away.

Regardless of the recipient of their writing, all of the children were proud of their letters and wrote with a definite audience in mind. They expressed clear opinions and were able to give reasons for them. And they enjoyed writing them...the best part of all!
